President/Public Awareness & Advocacy Committee Chair

Tony Carideo, CFA

Tony Carideo is president of The Carideo Group Inc., a corporate communications counseling firm in Minneapolis, MN.  Prior to establishing his own firm, he was a Senior Vice President in the Investor Relations practice at Padilla Speer Beardsley Inc., the Director of Investor Relations and Treasury Operations at Net Perceptions (a retail and business intelligence software company based in Edina, MN), and held a similar role at Information Advantage (an intelligence software firm).  From 1995 until 1999, he was an analyst and Director of Research at John G. Kinnard & Co., of Minneapolis, and spent a year at Boatmen's Trust Company in St. Louis as a Senior Vice President in Institutional Sales and Marketing.  Tony spent most of his early career as a journalist with 14 years at the Minneapolis Star Tribune as a business columnist and reporter, and six years with the Milwaukee Journal.  During his 21-year journalism career, Tony won more than 10 national and regional awards and was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.  He is a graduate of Gannon University in Erie, PA, and has a masters degree from Northwestern University.


First Vice President

David Spangler, CFA

David Spangler is a Sr. Quantitative Research Analyst in the Equities Department of Thrivent Asset Management and Co-portfolio Manager of two mutual funds, including the Thrivent Diversified Income Plus and the Thrivent Equity Income Plus funds.  David manages the equity assets of these products, including responsibility for dividend equity, REITs, preferred equity, master limited partnerships and an options call writing (Buy/Write) strategy.  Previously at Thrivent, David was Director of Investment Product Management for mutual funds and variable products, with responsibility for product development, product management and sub-advisory research/selection.  David has a B.A. from Beloit College and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.  He has passed the NASD series 7 and 63.

Patrick Donohue, CFA

Patrick Donohue, is a founding member of the equity capital markets department of Northland Securities. He is responsible for having developed the firm’s proprietary equity research and institutional trading business. Previously Director of Research, Patrick now is engaged in expanding the firm’s equity corporate finance activities. He joined Northland Securities in March 2003 from Henry Schafer Partners where he had been a principal and equity analyst. Prior to co-founding Henry Schafer Partners in September 2002, Patrick was an analyst at a boutique independent research firm we he wrote research on medical device, telecom, consumer cyclical, industrial and technology companies. Prior to embarking on his career as a financial analyst, he helped start a discount brokerage business for a regional broker-dealer and worked for two years at Salomon Smith Barney. He is a mentor for the Carlson School Growth Fund at the University of MN. He received his undergraduate degree in Finance with honors from Creighton University.

Michael Lingvall, CFA

Michael Lingvall has more than 19 years of capital markets experience.  From 1988-1993 he worked at The Bank of New York in the workout, bank loan syndication and middle market lending divisions.  From 1993-2005, he traded fixed income private placements from investment grade to distressed for Allison-Williams Company, Libra Investments, RBC Dain Rauscher and Morgan Joseph.  Since 2006, he has been involved in raising capital to support high yield lease transactions.  Michael received a BA in Economics from Rutgers University in 1986, an MBA in Finance/International Business from New York University in 1988 and his CFA charter in 1997.  He joined the CFA Society of Minnesota's Board of Directors in 2006

Jeffrey LeMunyon, CFA

An investment management industry professional since 1987, Jeff LeMunyon is Founder and Principal of Linwood Capital, an Energy Price Risk Management firm serving clients mainly in the public sector with particular emphasis on public transit.  In his role, he develops, executes, and monitors customized energy price risk management strategies that seek to manage the budget and cost uncertainty risk of Linwood’s clientele.  Prior to launching his own firm, Jeff held several positions in institutional investment management sales with Wells Capital Management, Galliard Capital Management, and Oxford Advisors, a fund of hedge fund manager.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Minnesota since 1999, serving two terms as its President.  He is also a member of the Financial Management Committee and the Procurement Committee of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).  Mr. LeMunyon earned a B.A in Philosophy from St. Olaf College and an M.B.A in Finance from the University of Minnesota.

Patrick Coleman, CFA

Pat Coleman has more than 27 years of investment management experience.  From 1980 to 1993, Pat worked for Washington Square Capital, Inc. as Vice President Fixed Income Securities, managing a portfolio of fixed income securities, and investing in private placement debt, public Taxable/Tax-Exempt Fixed Income Securities, High Yield Debt, and LBOs.  In 1993, Pat joined Voyageur Asset Management where he formed and directed the Fixed Income Credit Research Department as a Managing Director - Fixed Income Research.  Since 2006, Pat has provided investment consulting services on a private basis.  Pat received his BBA from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA – Finance from the University of Minnesota.  Pat received his CFA Charter in 1983 and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Minnesota.  Mr. Coleman has been a member of the CFA Society of Minnesota’s Board of Directors since 1994 and served as President of the organization in 2000.

Adele N. Gorrilla, CFA

Adele Gorrilla joined the University of Minnesota Foundation Investment Advisors (UMFIA) in 2003 as the Director of Investments to aid the organization in asset allocation, due diligence, and manager selection.  UMFIA is a non-profit subsidiary of the University of Minnesota Foundation established in 1998 to provide professional oversight of the current $1.4 billion of endowed assets. Prior to joining UMFIA, Adele worked for Okabena Investment Services (a Minneapolis family office) as an Investment Manager focused on hedge fund strategies, and for Goldman Sachs in New York as a financial analyst providing research coverage of the real estate sector.  Adele received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Kristine J. Mogollon, CFA

Kristine Mogollon is a Senior Investment Product Manager for Thrivent Financial.   Her responsibilities include mutual fund product development and the selection and monitoring of investment managers for both sub-advised portfolios and fee-based advisory accounts.  Prior to joining Thrivent in 2003, she was a Vice President and Senior Product Manager for US Bancorp Asset Management (now FAF Advisors).  She began her career with Sit Investment, and has also worked at Cronin & Company, American Express Financial Advisors, and as an Investment Analyst for both the Minnesota State Board of Investment and General Mills.   She received both her BSB and MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.  Kristine provides free tax-preparation services for low-income families through AccountAbility Minnesota, teaches financial literacy classes through a Faith in the City initiative, and volunteers with several BestPrep programs for Minnesota high school students.

Mark Vitelli, CFA

A 15-year veteran of the financial services industry, Mark Vitelli joined Wells Fargo in 2004.  He is currently a Senior Investment Manager with the private banking group, focusing on investment management for private clients and foundations.  Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Mark managed investments for a high-net worth family in a Minneapolis area family office for over six years and also managed a large university endowment fund.  He olds a BSB in Finance from University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, graduating with Honors, and an MBA in Finance from the University of St. Thomas College of Business.  He is also Adjunct Professor of Finance in the University of St. Thomas Graduate School of Business.

Jay Alexander, CFA

Jay currently works RiverSource Institutional Advisors with over 12 year financial industry related experience.  His primary responsibility is the marketing RiverSource investment strategies to regional consultants and institutions. Prior to that Jay worked FAF Advisors in Minneapolis, where he was Vice President of Product Management.   He also worked in the institutional consultant relations group at FAF Advisors. Prior to FAF Advisors, Jay worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis as a Bank Examiner. Jay has a B.A. form the University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, MN and MBA from University of Minnesota, the Carlson School of Management.

Dan Aronson, CFA

Dan Aronson is an investment professional with Tealwood Asset Management in Minneapolis, a boutique investment management firm servicing private clients and institutions.  In addition to research and portfolio responsibilities, Dan provides client services as well.  He entered the investment field in 1993 with the investment banking firm of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) in Boston and has also worked as the Fixed-Income Portfolio Manager for TCF Financial Corporation.  Dan is a graduate of Skidmore College with a B.A. in Music.

Robbie J. Burkhart, CFA

Robbie J. Burkhart is a Principal for Blue Rock Advisors, Inc., responsible for investment manager research and evaluation.  Prior to joining Blue Rock, he managed corporate cash and pension assets for ALLETE, Inc.  He joined their investment group in 1998 and served as the lead analyst of alternative investment strategies for a portfolio in excess of $200 million.  Robbie co-developed a risk arbitrage strategy and actively managed it as its portfolio manager and also co-developed and managed a fundamental and quantitative strategy.  Prior to joining the investment group, Mr. Burkhart worked as an internal auditor for the company. Robbie earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and an MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.  A Certified Public Accountant, in 1998 Robbie received the “President’s Award” from the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants for receiving the top score on the CPA exam in the state.

Frederick Feuerherm, CFA

A 36-year veteran in the investment management business, Frederick “Fritz” Fuerherm joined AXA Investment Management in 2003 as Managing Director. Prior to joining AXA, Fritz was Vice President of Investment Strategy for Advantus Capital Management and managed the total return fixed income group of Advantus. While at Advantus, Fritz’s responsibilities included underwriting privately placed fixed income securities, Head of Fixed Income Research, Bond and Balanced Portfolio Management and Minnesota Life General Account Portfolio Management. Fritz also had the oversight responsibility for all sub-advisory relationships. Fritz received a BBA and MBA from the University of Wisconsin. Fritz also served on the Advantus Mutual and Series Fund Boards and a number of non-affiliated advisory boards.

Josh T. Hill, CFA

Josh Hill is currently employed as a research analyst with Geraty Investments in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  He is responsible for performing fundamental research on restaurant companies spanning from micro-cap to large-cap, and provides investment recommendations to the portfolio manager of a long / short restaurant focused hedge fund.  Prior to joining Geraty Investments, Josh worked as a portfolio manager and research analyst for Wells Fargo Private Asset Management in Duluth, Minnesota.  Josh enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and reading, and holds a seat on the Board of Direcctors of the University of Minnesota, Duluth Alumni Association.

Steven J. Hulme, CFA

As Trust Portfolio Officer for Securian Trust Company, Steven Hulme is responsible for investment management of institutional accounts such as foundation and endowments, as well as personal trust relationships, market and portfolio strategy and research, asset allocation and trade execution.  Steven joined Securian in 2003 with over 20 years of experience in the investment services industry; he previously worked for North Central Trust Company, Dan Bosworth, FirsTier Bank Lincoln, and Merrill Lynch.  He obtained his B.S. in Agricultural economics from the University of Nebraska, and his MBA from the University of ChicagoSteven is also a member of the Twin Cities Society of Securities Analysts.

Leyla Kassem, CFA

Leyla Kassem joined Wells Capital Management in 2005 as a senior relationship manager with the long-term institutional separate accounts team.  Leyla has also served as a portfolio manager with Lowry Hill and as vice president in the corporate finance department of Dain Rauscher Incorporated. She began her investment industry career in 1987 with Prudential Investment Corporation in Newark, New Jersey as an associate investment manager. Leyla graduated with high distinction from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, earning both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration.

Jessica D. Murray, CFA

Jessica Murray began working in the financial industry in 1998 and currently is responsible for building the quantitative models to deliver alpha generating ideas to the equity portfolio teams at FAF Advisors.  Prior to joining the firm in 2003, Jessica was a portfolio analysis specialist with FactSet Research Systems in Chicago, where she worked as a consultant. She has a B.S.B.A. from the University of Richmond in Virginia.
